Pure Innovations Ltd
| Pure Innovations Ltd is a not-for-profit company who provide employment opportunities for vulnerable people with a wide range of disabilities. The company is based in Stockport, Cheshire and was established in 2005 to take responsibility from Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council for the development and improvement of supported employment. Doug Cresswell, Chief Executive approached The UIC in April 2006 to discuss a change management programme that would have an impact on processes across the whole organisation. This was to assist in the organisation’s transition from being a department in a large Borough Council, to being a limited company. We discussed a number of ways forward, and agreed that change needed to start at the top of the organisation and then be cascaded across all teams. |
| What we did | |
| The initial programme of activity for Pure Innovations Ltd included: | |
| • | Management Development Programme for 12 senior managers, including the Chief Executive |
| • | Facilitator Development Programme for 24 members of staff |
| • | Improve Your Projects for 12 Project Leaders |
| • | Annual Corporate Planning in 2006 and 2007 |
| • | Universal Leadership Skills for senior managers |
| In addition, we continue to work closely with Pure Innovations Ltd to ensure that UIMPROVE is applied consistently across the organisation. | |
| The results | |
| Pure Innovations Ltd have gone from strength-to-strength in the two years that we have been working with them. They have a firmly embedded corporate planning process which follows the principles of UIMPROVE, and projects across the organisation are supported by UIMPROVE-trained Facilitators. Most strikingly, leadership has improved and in a recent Ofsted inspection of the Worklink arm of the organisation, the report stated that: | |
| “Strategic and operational planning is very good. The direction and objectives of the company are clear and well communicated to all staff. Strategic objectives are translated into meaningful individual and team targets for staff, and the performance of staff in meeting these targets is managed effectively. A participative board supports senior managers with direction and decision-making. The values and culture within the company provide a clear focus for all staff to embrace social responsibility and support disadvantaged people to gain work” | |
| Furthermore, in reference to Pure Innovations Ltd’s capacity to improve the Inspector said: | |
| “Pure Innovations has a clear and strong commitment to continuously improve the quality of provision. Initiatives have been introduced to foster the right ethos and culture among staff, to engage employers and encourage partnerships and networking, to provide relevant training for senior managers to monitor and manage performance” |
