Dave Higgs

Dave has had a career of two halves, starting in the quality departments of a succession of medium sized engineering companies supplying the automotive industry, where he first encountered the use of statistical methods to improve processes. He also learned the pitfalls of old style inspection regimes first hand, spending many a twilight hour re-working components to fulfil orders as the waiting lorry driver glanced impatiently at his watch.

He moved to the rail industry in 1992 and his background lies in performance management and analysis. His various roles have included leading and facilitating improvement projects as well as applying statistical methods and presenting data at all levels throughout the industry. In the course of his career he has previously worked alongside Mike, Jon and Andrea in the never-ending quest to improve the experience of travelling by rail.

Dave originally joined the UIC to assist with the development and support of Bugle software. However in 2006 he switched to the training and consultancy team and has spent much of the last 12 months training facilitators.

His spare time is spent enjoying family life and fronting R&B band The Sleaze Brothers in pubs and clubs around the Midlands.
