Improve Your Projects

Improve Your Projects is a 2-day course for anyone who leads or is regularly involved in project work, be it large or small, alone or as part of a team.

Project management – which approach is best?

Project management skills are crucial in today’s fast-paced organisational environment. Approaches to project management are many and varied. Some focus heavily on administration and control. Others prioritise flexibility but then stumble into steering challenges.

Furthermore, we often see methodologies developed for one environment (e.g. software) applied in another setting, with mixed results.

UIMPROVE is different

For over 30 years, the UIC has trained thousands of participants in an integrated approach which offers structure, flexibility and easy application across a range of settings. This approach is known as UIMPROVE.

UIMPROVE aligns people and projects around organisational goals. Underpinned by the work of quality giants such as Dr W. Edwards Deming and Dr Joseph Juran, it is theoretically robust and has been continuously improved since 1992.

Applied effectively, UIMPROVE helps to:

  • Cut out inefficiencies in project work
  • Increase employee engagement and satisfaction
  • Develop rising stars
  • Increase productivity
  • Improve collaboration within and between teams
  • Improve results for customers, staff and the organisation

Improve Your Projects training

Improve Your Projects is the ideal introduction to UIMPROVE. This 2-day course equips participants with the tools to set up and execute projects systematically, involving people meaningfully at each stage.

From the start, participants will learn how project work fits into the broader organsiational picture. Then, they will deep-dive into the UIMPROVE Projects Framework and learn how to apply this successfully.

This includes an introduction to:

  • Steering
  • Roles and involvement
  • Project methodologies
  • Project Events
  • Tools and techniques
  • Data*

By the end of the 2 days, participants will be able to immediately apply what they have learned. No exams, no special status – just useful, practical project management skills.

They will also gain access to our comprehensive manual, The Complete Guide to Improvement, and other support materials from our website.

Style and structure of the course

Improve Your Projects is highly participative and allows participants to work through real-life projects using UIMPROVE.

We don’t use PowerPoint and keep screens to a minimum – our focus is getting people thinking, talking and doing.

Our Consultants are highly experienced across a range of industries and will make time for 1:1 support either during or after the course if required.

What previous participants have said

“Hands on, practical course with lots of different ways to apply what we learned.”

“I loved how simple the tools were and how I could see straight away how I could use them in my workplace. The pace of the course was great and Josie and Lucy were brilliant!”

“Friendly, relaxed yet respectful learning and informative atmosphere set from the outset”

*We couldn’t possibly do justice to the importance of data within a 2 day course, but it does get a mention. Universal Data Skills is our 3 day course for previous UIMPROVE graduates and goes right into the detail. Get in touch for more information.
