Danny

Danny has over 30 years’ experience in local government, mostly in senior management roles. He was introduced to the UIC in 2002 during his time at Fife Council when he attended Improve Your Projects. From then on, he and his management team colleagues became strong advocates of UIMPROVE, implementing Annual Planning and training managers and team leaders throughout the service, supported by a strong team of Facilitators.

Danny went on to become the Council’s Area Manager for Kirkcaldy, where he managed local services for the area as well as developing regeneration programmes. He famously made the front page of his local newspaper when he undertook a Cocktail Party for Town Centre regeneration that involved 170 people with former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown doing the Leader Speaks. He built a reputation in the Council for his use of flipcharts and post-its, often being called upon by colleagues, services and external partners to undertake scoping sessions.

At home, Danny likes running, cooking and playing the piano (playing all the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order). He is currently writing a book which he describes as ‘big history meets self-awareness’.
